It is very easy to teach a dog no matter what age to to "go potty" outdoors. It is done with the magic help of a CRATE. When you train the puppy to "go to bed" in a crate, you are allowing Mother Nature to take over the housebreaking. Why?? Because the mamma dog, from the beginning, has taught the puppy by example that the bed area must be clean. When puppies are as tiny as two weeks old, eyes not even open yet, they will crawl away to the farthest corner of the whelping box to go potty. The underlying lesson is that "the bed area must be kept clean", and mamma reinforces this by cleaning up the accidents of the babies, and cleaning and licking their bodies.
